Former Manchester United defender, Paul Parker, has criticized Alejandro Garnacho, urging the young winger to work harder if he hopes to reach the peak of his football career.
Garnacho, 20, has faced challenges this season at Old Trafford, with his performances falling short of expectations. The Argentine has only scored 9 goals in all competitions and has been involved in at least two incidents with manager Ruben Amorim.
Garnacho’s attitude has also raised questions this season. One notable incident occurred when he angrily left the Old Trafford tunnel after being substituted in a match last month.
Paul Parker’s Thoughts on Garnacho

Recently, Paul Parker shared his views on Garnacho, offering a blunt assessment. Speaking to SpilXperten, Parker said: “We can’t keep using the excuse that Garnacho is still young. He’s not young anymore, at least not in football terms. This summer he will turn 21, and before he knows it, he’ll be 30. Garnacho needs to understand this and start proving himself.”
Parker continued, “I was a big fan of Garnacho when he first came onto the scene. He had that fierce fighting spirit typical of Argentine players, but now it seems to have completely disappeared. He’s let down his family and the club because he hasn’t harnessed the talent he could have shown.”
Parker went on to say, “I don’t see anything noteworthy from him now. The most important thing is that Garnacho understands his strengths and weaknesses. He doesn’t have dribbling ability, his speed isn’t good enough, and he doesn’t want to work hard. So, what is he good at? Garnacho needs to figure that out and show it on the pitch, rather than dreaming about becoming Ronaldo. Right now, he’s just a ‘fanboy’ of Ronaldo. Instead of trying to win and help this club become great again, he seems more interested in creating a few highlight moments for social media.”
Garnacho’s failure to earn a place in Argentina’s national team was also notable, as coach Lionel Scaloni opted to call up Bologna winger Benjamin Dominguez instead. After being left out of the national squad, Garnacho had a free week before returning to Manchester United’s training center at Carrington on Monday.
